“Super Committee” Expected to Produce Few Reductions

This morning, an Economic Time article suggested the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction would produce little more than the minimum $1.2 trillion in spending reductions despite Americans wanting more.  Since both parties are gearing up for the 2012 election cycle, both are expected to use the other’s shortcomings as campaign material.  Brian Gardner, a policy analyst at Keefe, Bruyette & Woods, commented, “It leaves the committee in a difficult position.”
