Political Bickering Leaves Global Economy on Edge

An Associated Press article outlines the delicate balance of our global economy and how when one domino falls halfway around the world, it affects us all.  To make it even worse, times like these require touch decisions from members of opposing parties in various countries.  However, as AP reports, “…things come together only at the very last minute, if at all, while the global economy hangs in the balance.”

Chief economist with HIS Global, Nariman Behravesh, said, “It has to do with the fact that politicians in both areas have taken what is an inherently manageable problem and turned it into a crisis by their actions or lack of actions.”  On Tuesday, U.S. stock markets rose somewhat amid hopes that European leaders were close to a solution for their debt crisis.
