Who to Blame if Deal Isn’t Reached?

A new CNN/ORC International Poll shows over three-fourths of Americans believe an agreement from the deficit super committee is somewhat likely or altogether unlikely.  However, the same poll, described in a Political Ticker blog, shows that more Americans would blame Republicans (42%) than Democrats (32%) while a healthy 20% said they would blame members from both parties equally.

If an agreement is reached by the November 23rd deadline, then both chambers of Congress will have until December 23rd to vote on it.  However, if no agreement is reached, automatic cuts would be triggered hitting the Defense budget the hardest.  The same blog said, “Defense Secretary Leon Panetta warned members of Congress this week that such cuts could cripple the American military establishment.”
