ABB Making an Impact in Iowa

This week, Americans for a Balanced Budget took the message of fiscal responsibility to early Republican primary states including Iowa and New Hampshire.  In Iowa, volunteers questioned candidates such as former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum.  When asked how he would balance the budget, the Senator said, “I would take a meat grinder to the federal budget.”  Santorum went on to say many entitlements would have to be slashed.

In New Hampshire, volunteers attended an event held by former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich where he spoke to primary voters.  ABB volunteers dispersed information and stressed the need for our leaders to present serious solutions about balancing our nation’s budget.

In the coming days and weeks, ABB will continue to take the message to Republican candidates and urge them to keep this issue at the forefront of their domestic policy agendas.  If you would like to help keep the pressure on those running for office and elected officials in Washington, here is how you can:

1.)    Write, call and email the President and members of Congress.  Tell them to put politics aside and pass the Balanced Budget Amendment now!

                 Contact your U.S. Representative

                 Contact your U.S. Senator

                 Contact President Obama

2.)    Speak out at town hall meetings, campaign events and local meetings that the President and members of Congress attend.  Tell them balancing the budget and paying off the national debt must be their top priority!

3.)    Make sure balancing the budget maintains popular support among the voters by writing letters to the editor of your local newspaper, calling radio talk programs and participating in online forums.

4.)    Donate to Americans for a Balanced Budget so our 20,000 members can organize, mobilize and keep the pressure on the politicians in Washington, D.C.
