Obama Speaks to Veterans about Budget Cuts

In a speech to veterans in Reno, Nevada, President Obama called on Congress to come together and agree on a balanced approach to cut deficit spending.  “…people in Congress ought to be able to come together and agree on a plan, a balanced approach that reduces the deficit and keeps our military strong.  It should be done,” the President said.

While Congressional Democrats want to end the Bush tax cuts, Republicans are hesitant saying it would place a heavy burden on an already fragile economy.   As noted in a CNBC article, the president’s “… comments come as business leaders, financial markets, and defense contractors have shown increased concerns about the consequences of massive federal budget cuts and tax increases that will be triggered at year’s end barring action by Congress.”
