Dark Portends From Across the Atlantic

The growing crisis in Europe could portend future problems for the United States, writes Dr. Andrew Taylor, professor of political Science at North Carolina State University.  In a column from the Carolina Journal, Taylor says that despite cultural and political differences, the U.S. shares many of the problems of Europe, including an increasing welfare state, massive debt, and difficulties with immigration.

Taylor says that most members of the EU are facing “years of economic stagnation, political turmoil, and a general lack of confidence in the future.”  Further, the same may happen to the United States unless we change our ways.
