Obama Does Letterman

Obama Does Letterman

Obama doesn’t seem to be too worried about the national debt.

While making an appearance on the Late Show With David Letterman, Obama was asked by Mr. Letterman the amount of the national debt, The Washington Examiner reports.

“Now, do you remember what that number was?” Mr. Letterman asked.  “Was it 10 trillion?”

“I don’t remember what the number was precisely,” Obama said.  (The number is actually $16 trillion and counting.  It was $10 trillion when Mr. Obama came into office.)

Obama added that a “majority” of the debt was held by “folks who live here” and inexplicably said that it wasn’t worth worrying about in the short term.

It all kind of depends on your definition of “short term”.
