No Budget = No Pay for Congress

No Budget = No Pay for Congress

Recently, House Republicans came up with a plan to pass a budget.  This sounds like a solid initial step!  First, they would agree to increase the nation’s debt ceiling, but only for three months.  In that time, Congress must pass a budget.  If none is passed, House and Senate members will not see a paycheck until it’s done.  This all sounds great!

However, there is a catch.  The budget does not need to be approved by both chambers and signed by the President.  Simply one chamber needs to pass a budget and send it to the next chamber.  Well, this would be remarkable if the Senate passed one since they have failed to do so in four years.

So in all actuality, nothing is happening.  We are still in square one.
