A New Budget Two Months Late

The President released the 2014 budget to Congress two months late blaming the December fiscal cliff negotiations and the March 1 sequestration fight for the delay. (Reminder: the White House created and proposed the automatic spending cuts, better known as sequestration.)

Unfortunately, the President’s new budget is very similar to the deal Boehner walked away from weeks earlier. The new budget, yet again, calls for raising taxes while also requiring little reform to social programs. One can only guess how the House, President, and Senate will compromise. Three bodies of government work only miles away from one another and yet they cannot seem to remotely get on the same page.
