ABB to Congress: Establish a Committee to Reduce Government Waste

Americans for a Balanced Budget, along with several other coalition groups, is proud to announce our signing of the American’s for Tax Reform letter.  This letter calls upon Congressional leaders to create and establish the Committee to Reduce Government waste. This type of Committee is not new to Congress.  In fact, Senator Harry Bird, Sr. (D-VA) created a Committee, the “Byrd Committee”, in 1941 to address and dial back some of the government growth and spending that occurred under the New Deal.

Currently, there are several Congressional committees that promote and address how to spend taxpayers’ dollars.  However, this Committee would be tasked with looking for ways to decrease spending and finding savings, thus potentially leading the way for spending reform.
