Business Sector Still Going Strong After Trimming Government Fat

A recent survey of business economists reflects that tightening the government’s proverbial belt only minimally effected their bottom line.  “Ninety-three percent of respondents say political developments had no effect on employment in the first quarter, and 95% say they had no impact on capital spending plans.”

On Monday, the National Association for Business Economics (NABE) released its latest survey. A small sample of 58 members, stemming from a wide range of backgrounds, were asked how higher government taxes and lower government spending effected their businesses within the first three months of 2013. NABE did caution that while 2013 was looking better than the last quarter of 2012, most businesses may have adjusted months before. If businesses can adjust to the government cutting spending, just imagine how prosperous they would be if we both cut spending and reduced taxes.
