Unions & Conservatives on Same Side of New Health Care Law?

Several labor unions have decided to break ranks with their liberal counterparts to join with conservatives in sounding the alarm regarding the new health care legislation. Strange bedfellows? Perhaps not.

The United Food and Commercial Workers International Union (UFCW), approximately 1.3 million members strong, recently publically state that they are concerned about certain parts of the new law. These concerns seem to echo previous statements made by, once a strong advocate for the bill, Senator Max Baucus. The Senator has been quoted going as far as calling the bill a train wreck.

In a more surprising move, the United Union of Roofers, Waterproofers and Allied Workers released a statement calling “for repeal or complete reform of the Affordable Care Act.”  With many of the bill’s supporters falling by the wayside, perhaps the President should revisit this major piece of legislation before it is too late.
