Congress Attempts To Keep The IRS Out Of HealthCare

Congressional members are hoping to use the latest IRS scandal to question the government’s ability to properly and fairly run the ACA program.  Rep. Tom Price (R-GA), introduced H.R. 2009, a bill that will “prohibit the Secretary of the Treasury from enforcing the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010.”

According to a recent Forbes article, “the text of the bill states that the recent IRS tax exempt organization scandal ‘raises pertinent questions about the agency’s ability to implement and oversee’ the law and ‘could be an indication of future Internal Revenue Service abuses…’” As a result, the bill demands that the Treasury not enforce the health care act.”
