Democrats Refuse To Negotiate, Republicans Refuse to Back Down

Sunday, Republican Speaker Boehner stated he would not consider raising the debt without a “serious conversation” regarding current spending habits.  His Democrat counterparts, however, view the Speaker’s approach to handling the current debt ceiling deadline as rash and careless. In turn, Boehner faults the President’s lack of leadership and unwillingness to meet as the driving force behind the potential default. As this tit for tat continues, Americans wonder if Congress and the President will ever be able to put their differences aside to negotiate a deal in order to avert a crisis.
