According to a recent CBO, Congressional Budget Office, report, the new Affordable Health Care Act is expected to result in the addition of roughly 13 million people to Medicaid over the next 10 years.  This upsurge is predicted to cost the American taxpayers roughly $710 billion. Representative Jim McClendon from Alabama assessed the results best; “We’re having a desperate struggle to pay for those on the rolls now, and to add several hundred thousand, the money’s not there. It’s just that simple.” This scenario begs an answer to the obvious question – if states pick up the bills, will local tax increases soon follow.
