ObamaCare Will Increase Insurance Premiums

Wednesday, Kathleen Sebelius told the House Ways and Means Committee that she expects insurance premiums to increase in 2015, once the ACA is fully implemented.  Her assertioncontradicts the President’s previous statements declaring that the new law would decrease premium costs. The Daily Mail cites that the President “famously promised in 2008 and 2009 that his health insurance overhaul plan would lower the cost of health care for an average family by $2,500 per year.”  As prices continue to rise, Republican members are becoming increasingly frustrated that businesses have been granted another delay while individuals have been left footing the bill. The Daily Mail quotes Congressman Kevin Brady’s sentiments, “‘if you delayed this law because it’s not workable for businesses, why aren’t you delaying this law because it’s not workable for our families?'”  In turn, many are left to wonder what happened to the promises of lower costs for the middle class and poor?
