Job Growth Slows Down in January

Yesterday we posted a CNBC article about layoffs surging in January to the highest levels since July. Well it does not stop there, the pace of hiring in the US tapered off in January as well. “The smaller-than-expected increase in jobs could add to growing worries about a weakening U.S. economy and even the possibility of recession.” While this smaller-than-expected increase does create worry, January also saw the unemployment rate fall to 4.9%, the lowest in eight years.
