Americans increased their spending at retail stores in June, pointing to a more promising economy in the face of economic uncertainties around the world. This increase in consumer spending is coupled with an increase in industrial production, mainly due to a bounce back in auto manufacturing. This good news comes on the heels of an impressive jobs report that recorded a total of 287,000 jobs created in the month of June. Economists believe this increase in consumer spending and the uptick in job creation is great momentum for the U.S. economy as it enters the second half of the year.
