Americans give economy highest marks since financial crisis

Recent polling data shows that Americans have increasingly positive opinions about the economic situation of the U.S., which 58% of respondents say is “very” or “somewhat” good. This is the most encouraging data since before the financial crisis. As of late, unemployment has crept down as well as renewed optimism on Wall Street in regards to expected changes to the business climate since the 2016 election. Surprisingly, there is only a one percentage point discrepancy in how Democrats and Republicans view the economy, a shift from a 26-point gap just over a year ago.
