GOP leader concedes tax cuts may not pay for themselves as 2019 deficit grows

Republicans are contradicting themselves on past promises made in regards to tax cuts. Although reported that the tax cuts would “pay for themselves,” Rep. Kevin Brady (R-Tex.), a proponent of the GOP tax bill, suggested that might not be the case. He stated, “We will know in year 8, 9 or 10 what revenues it brought in to the government over time. So it’s way too early to tell.” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has countered with “Anybody who tells you the fact the tax cuts are going to pay for themselves. It’s not true.
