Bernanke Dramatically Lowers Economic Forecast

On Thursday, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke dramatically reduced his forecast for the nation’s economic growth through the year 2013.  During a press conference, Mr. Bernanke said, “I think it would be helpful if we could get assistance from other parts of the government to help create more jobs.” 

Most notably, Bernanke lowered his predictions for growth in 2012 to between 2.5 and 2.9 percent.  Additionally, he expects the unemployment to be no lower than 8.5 percent by the end of 2012.  Read the New York Times article.
