Voters Begin Reviewing Sen. Santorum’s Tax Plans
Christopher Halloran /

With former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum’s close second place finish in Iowa, voters are beginning to take a second at his tax plan for America.  A CNN article reviews some of his major points.

  1. Reduce the number of tax brackets from six to two (10% and 28%).
  2. Eliminate to marriage tax penalty.
  3. Reduce the capital gains tax from 15% to 12%.
  4. Slash to the corporate tax rate in half to 17.5% and 0% for manufacturing.
  5. Eliminate the Alternative Minimum Tax and the Estate Tax.

While all of these are good points, many economists are concerned this will leave even more households not paying any federal taxes and cause Congress to add trillions of dollars to our national debt.  This is sure to be something Senator Santorum will have to address in the coming days and weeks.
