On ABC’s “This week”, George Stephanopoulos asked Senator Reid several questions regarding the current deficit problem. The Senator’s response: “We need to keep our eye on the prize and continue doing something about spending, but I think that what we need to do is do some of the things that Mitt Romeny talked about. He said there’s some low-hanging fruit; there are a lot of tax loopholes that should be closed. I agree with him. We haven’t done that.”
While this might look like a nod to the Republican Party, it is not. Governor Romeny mentioned closing loopholes as one example of a multipronged solution. Republicans have already agreed to allow $700 billion in taxes cuts to expire. The question here is when are we going to stop talking revenue and start talking spending?
