Waiting For The Second Shoe To Drop

Many Americans all over the country are starting to receive letters stating their current healthcare policy will no longer be available under the current ACA law. While this cancelation flies in the face of what the President and his administration originally stated about ACA, most are not surprised that yet another government program does not live up to standard.

“Surprisingly, however, many employees who currently receive health care under their employer many soon follow suit. Section 1251 of the Affordable Care Act contains what’s called a ‘grandfather’ provision that, in theory, allows people to keep their existing plans if they like them. All in all, more than half of employer-sponsored plans will lose their ‘grandfather status’ and get canceled. According to the Congressional Budget Office, 156 million Americans—more than half the population—was covered by employer-sponsored insurance in 2013.”
