Currently some states are withholding payment to CGI,a Montreal-based information technology company, because this firm has apparently left them with healthcare websites fraught with errors. Ironically or not, CGI is the same company that produced the failed federal website healthcare.gov. The state-based websites created for Hawaii, Massachusetts and Vermont are enduring problems similar to those experienced by the federal website earlier in October. A Massachusetts official quoted in the Daily Mail stated, “If we could do it all over again, we would have been better off hiring a half-dozen undergrads at MIT.” This statement delivers a strong reproach to any who claim that the respective federal- and state-based websites have served as efficient tools for purchasing health care policies. At this point, most individuals question whether or not the government has or will ever have the competency to deliver on its promise that all Americans will have access to affordable health care.
