According to a recent UK Daily Mail article, 11 million small business employees will pay more under the new healthcare law while 6 million could pay less. The CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) report states that the increase in cost stems from “…. the laws [sic] requirement that premiums for health insurance can no longer be based on an insurance applicant’s age.” As a result, seniors may see healthcare costs decrease while young adults will most definitely see an increase. In this current economy, increasing health premiums for this demographic range of clients is like adding fuel to the fire. We may once again observe Obamacare creating an extremely destructive, unintended consequence – substantial growth in the number of jobless young adults, many of whom have to live with their parents for sustenance.
