As if no one saw this coming, businesses are now passing along new government healthcare costs onto their consumers. According to a recentForbes article, Gator’s Dockside in Florida has applied a surcharge on customers’ bills “ostensibly to cover the cost of implementing the Affordable Care Act. The surcharge, which works out to about 1% of the total bill, appears on customer receipts as ‘ACA Surcharge.’” Obamacare has clearly extended the reach of its oppressive influence to impact the accessibility of culinary delights that appear on the menus of sports-themed restaurant chains. What will be next?
