The recent Drudge Report Headline, which suggested Republican complicity in “expanding Obamacare,” prompted House Speaker John Boehner to clarify current actions of Republican Leadership. According to the Washington Examiner, Boehner “countered that they had actually ‘chip[ped] away another piece’ of the law.” This “chipping away” is linked to the removal of the cap on deductibles for small group policies offered inside and outside the health care exchanges.
Boehner’s aide, Kevin Smith, commented further stating “’successfully repealing this Obamacare provision is just one part of Republicans’ larger effort to repeal the full law and replace it with better solutions focused on lowering health care costs for families and small businesses.'” He continued, “’repealing this provision will give employers more flexibility over the type of health care options they can offer their employees, and will expand the use of high-deductible plans paired with health savings accounts.'”
