George F. Will’s recent article in the Washington Post highlights the need to cut spending and maintain fiscal responsibility. Currently, Alaska and Arizona are seeking to follow Georgia’s lead in adopting a balanced budget amendment to reinin federal government spending. In a recent PR web release, Georgia State Representative Paulette Rakestraw Braddock, sponsor of House Bill HB794, the Compact for a Balanced Budget Amendment, stated; “’I am thrilled to see Georgia take the lead to restore fiscal responsibility in Washington.’” As the debt continues to escalate, more states and Americans in general are reacting adversely to the growing spending problem and the potential future economic disaster. This fervent reaction may very well provide the strong headwind needed to lead America forward in its efforts to adopt a Balanced Budget Amendment.
