51 Percent Of Obamacare Users To Bail – Will Premiums Rise?

CNBC points to a recent survey which finds that “51 percent of people who used the government-run Obamacare health insurance exchanges in the past year say they will not to [sic] do so again when open enrollment resumes Nov. 15.” CNBC then notes, “Just 43 percent of people who used HealthCare.gov, the federal insurance marketplace, or a state-run exchange, plan on using such an exchange to shop for 2015 insurance plans, the Bankrate.com survey found.” Based on these numbers, Obamacare appears not to be attractive enough to retain its existing market share. Will the decline in this retention rate usher in a rise in premium rates? Expect that someone will have to fund this massive health care undertaking through increased insurance premiums or higher taxes. After all, all government programs tend to be very costly, and this one is mammoth.
