Could There Be An ObamaCare Opt-Out?

Soon Americans will sit down and begin working on their taxes. As many of us have become all too aware, this process is long and tedious, often causing many families to receive outside help. As if tax filing were not complicated enough, ObamaCare serves to create even more headaches for Americans. Fox News indicates that a couple of Senators hope to alleviate the ObamaCare tax burden by reintroducing The ObamaCare Opt-Out Act of 2014. Fox News notes that this Act will function as “…important legislation that will allow Americans to opt-out of the individual mandate for health insurance coverage required by ObamaCare. This bill would allow individuals to either notify their state or the federal health care exchange, or use their tax filing to opt-out of ObamaCare and avoid the penalty. According to the tax-services provider H&R Block, this would impact about 4 million uninsured Americans in 2015.” While the impact of this plan would be too late for this year’s tax filing season, the benefits of this legislation could, hopefully, significantly alleviate tax burdens for many Americans for years to come.
