As Sequester Continues, Pressure Mounts for Congress to Pass a Better Budget Deal

The vote for the final version of the balanced budget passed through Congress with a vote of 226-197, however, the sequester continues as Congress searches for a better budget deal. Sequestration is an attempt to cut billions of dollars in spending and while some conservatives support the sequester, many oppose it because of the difficulty in operating the federal government at those spending levels. In fiscal 2016, Congress will work with $1.016 trillion, a growth from $1.013 trillion last year. “Sequestration compels them to write the spending bills at the limited figures. But those numbers are so low that the lawmakers could struggle to find the votes to pass the measures.”
