The Obama administrations special enrollment period from March 15 – April 30 was designed to allow individuals that didn’t know they would face tax penalties if they remained uninsured to become insured. Well the numbers are in, a grand total of ZERO people signed up during the special enrollment period in Hawaii. Hawaii is not alone; many states reported extremely low numbers. “Hawaii’s dismal performance should not be surprising. The website cost taxpayers $205 million but could only enroll 8,592 individuals in year one. Cost to taxpayers per enroll: $23,899.”
