Senate Passes Cost-Cutting Budget Plan

For the first time in six years, the Senate gave final approval to a joint congressional budget plan. Over the next decade, the plan seeks to balance the budget by cutting spending by $5.3 trillion, repealing Obamacare, and overhauling benefit programs for the poor. Republican Senator John Thune of South Dakota, called Tuesday’s action a “historic step toward a balanced budget.”
