Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina recently announced that its premiums for Affordable Care Act plans will increase by an average of 24.3% for 2017. This increase is higher than expected due to the departure of United HealthCare and Aetna from the state’s ACA marketplace. A double digit increase in premium price is not unexpected either, as this is being seen across the board. Spikes in premium costs like this are totally unacceptable! It may cause even more insurers to withdraw their services from the online marketplace.
