U.S. Consumer Spending Rose in December by Most in Three Months

American consumers spent more in December than they have in previous months, signaling a clean transition into 2017. Due to an increase in automobile sales, rising wages, hiring increases and an overall optimism about economic changes under President Trump, the U.S. experienced a .5% uptick in consumption for the month of December. Ryan Sweet, a senior economist¬†at Moody’s Analytics Inc., summed up this trend by saying, “the consumer has almost everything going for it”.
