Nine years after the recession, several states are still struggling to recover. It is no wonder that in Mississippi, Alabama, Michigan, New Mexico, and West Virginia, people are left wondering when the economy will return to pre-2008 levels. While much of the rest of the United States has flourished, states like Mississippi have had to deal with decreased average education levels, lack of employment opportunities, and an slow-growth economy sector. For many residents, waiting was not an option as populations have been steadily declining in these states. It is up to more education/vocational training programs and an incentive to push forward to finally make it past the recession.
