President Trump will propose cutting federal spending by $3.6 trillion over the next 10 years. The budget request for fiscal year 2018 calls for cuts in Medicaid, food assistance, and other poverty-related programs. Budget Director Mick Mulvaney said that the budget protects taxpayer money while cutting spending on ineffective programs. The budget does propose a increase in the military budget by $43 billion.
