Economic growth has slowed in the last few weeks across parts of the United States. Some firms have also become less optimistic. Firms continue to be upbeat about the economy, but less so than earlier this year. Across the central bank’s 12 districts, the Fed said that economic growth was modest in seven, moderate in four, and flattening in the New York district. National unemployment fell to 4.4% for the month of April, and the Labor Department will release the figures for May on Friday.
