The policymakers collectively known as the “Big Six” met at the White House on Tuesday. Reps. Paul Ryan (R., Wis.) and Kevin Brady (R., Texas), Sens. Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.) and Orrin Hatch (R., Utah), Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and White House economic policy chief Gary Cohn, are pushing to make sweeping changes to tax reform before the year is out. Republicans are confident that a tax bill will be completed before the year is out, and with control of the House, Senate, and the White House, conservative legislators have the tools to do just that.
