Still finding Katrina waste and fraud, watchdogs keep eye on Congress’ spending for Harvey

As Congress prepares to allocate federal funding for Hurricane Harvey, budget watchdogs are advising lawmakers to learn from Hurricane Katrina in which taxpayers paid $100 Billion. Investigators are still uncovering massive fraud over a decade later. Top state and federal officials have already stated that Harvey’s price tag will likely exceed Katrina’s. Texas Governor Greg Abbott has said at least $125 Billion will be needed, some others have claimed even higher.
