Trump’s push for tax cuts is coming up against a familiar challenge: Divided GOP

The administration’s main priority this legislative session is capitalizing on tax reform. The Trump campaign has promised giant tax cuts, and the only people capable of stopping him are republicans. Divided republican lawmakers have been a pique to this administration all year, yet hopes of collaboration are still high.  The White House and Republican leaders are working a different angle than that used with the failed effort to repeal the Affordable Care Act, hoping for more agreement upfront rather than risk late defections that doom the entire process.
