Hurricane-Battered U.S. Shed 33,000 Jobs in September

For the first time in seven years the US. Economy lost jobs. 33,000 jobs were lost this month, thanks to Hurricane Irma and Harvey. However, unemployment dropped to its lowest rate since 2001 sending contradicting messages about the future of the labor market. Most economists do agree that the recent hurricanes and tropical storms have been distorting job market numbers, but by how much we don’t know.
