FCC to Outline Plan to Roll Back Net-Neutrality Rules

Federal Regulators at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) are planing to roll back net neutrality regulations. This move could drastically change of a consumer’s online experience and produce a vastly different online economy. FCC chairmen Ajit Pai said that “hard-and-fast rules can stifle investment and innovation in a fast-moving industry.” This rollback is a reversal of the initial Obama-era regulation in 2015 which required internet providers to keep ll the corners of the internet equally accessible. The FCC likely would retain a key role in overseeing the online economy, by requiring internet providers to disclose their policies when it comes to net neutrality. That could allow both regulators to hold companies accountable when they stray from their own stated principles.
