Senate GOP Adds Health-Care Twist to Tax Overhaul Plan

As the tax reform debate continues, a new element has been added into the equation.  Senate Republicans attached a provision to their tax code overhaul that would repeal the requirement that all Americans have health insurance. This condition is going to save the U.S government 338 billion dollars and these funds will be needed to help fund the tax cuts promised by the Trump Administration. This provision will allow Republicans to kill two birds with one stone, Republicans will be able to repeal the individual mandate something they have been trying to accomplish for years and find funding for their tax cuts. Many policy analysts conclude that adding this provision to the current tax bill will only complicate things for the GOP, as the majority party only holds a two-seat threshold.
