The budget deficit for March 2019 was recorded at $147 billion, down from $209 billion in March of 2018. According to the article, “spending fell on most government programs, including defense, education and veterans affairs.” However, although March spending was down, the deficit for the fiscal year 2019 is 15% larger, at $691 billion.
