After a series of budget talks on Tuesday, the Trump administration and congressional leaders have yet to come to a resolution, but commit to continue negotiating and attempt to reach a “debt and spending agreement that would avoid fiscal catastrophe”. Discussions continue on “how much domestic spending will be part of a two-year budget” and whether the potential for new revenue or budget cuts will be enough to offset the proposed spending. McConnell is hopeful for a deal between parties to be settled by Tuesday, despite the tension between the GOP’s defense priorities and the “Democrats’ focus on domestic spending”.
