Huawei Technologies, the Chinese telecom giant, is the target of a recent federal measure prohibiting government agencies from contracting with the company or with other companies that use its equipment. The acting White House Office of Management and Budget has called for a two year delay of the ban, stating “this is about ensuring that companies who do business with the U.S. government or receive federal grants and loans have time to extricate themselves from doing business with Huawei and other Chinese tech companies that are covered by the law.” Huawei and the American companies who do business with them find themselves caught in the crossfire of Trump’s economic and trade battles against China.
