Although today’s economy is historically strong, one thing missing is a high GDP. GDP numbers have steadily declined since the 195os, and today’s numbers are at a record low. Over the past decade, the highest annual rate recorded was 2.9%. Several elements are cited as the cause for this lull in GDP and those are economic maturity, high debt levels, changes in the labor force, and government regulation. You can read more here.
